Frantic Residents 07 is out now – Mixed by Proteus and CallyGage .

Buy exclusive now on iTunes.

Four years on from the release of the last episode, FR07 breaks from the single DJ mix mould and gives each DJ their own mix to play with for 2 DJ Mixes of the biggest hard dance anthems past, present and future, timed to coincide with Frantic’s 13th Birthday. Featuring tracks from legendary classic artists like BK, Vinylgroover, Fergie, Organ Donors, Lab 4 and Kevin Energy as well as leaders of the nu skool like Technikal, Andy Whitby & more!

The explosion of Hard House in the late 1990’s created one of the most exciting and successful dance music explosions both in terms of the music released and the parties and events it spawned. Frantic and Nukleuz were fused at the hip from the birth of the scene and together forged the now legendary Frantic Residents album series which showcased the hottest DJ and production talent in the world doing what they do best. Most of these CDs, made as limited edition runs now pop up on eBay for up to £50 a time!

The Frantic Residents CDs were designed to be an antidote to the big budget TV advertised compilations that were dominating the market at the time and represented the sound of Frantic & Nukleuz, its core DJs and the full spectrum of harder dance. These international sounds have seen a renaissance over the past 6 months growing from their core home territories of UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Finland and Australia to encompass the globe especially the USA where Hardstyle is fast becoming the most popular and fastest growing rave scene of 2010.

PROTEUS

Finnish sensation Proteus opens up proceedings with his own brand of industrial, metal influenced hardstyle fusing classic anthems with hot upfront exclusives and leads the growing ranks of hardstyle DJs currently headlining at Frantic’s events due to the massive growth in the scene internationally especially in the UK and USA.

Proteus shot to prominence in 2004 when he was voted “Best Hard Dance DJ” two years in a row at the Hard Dance Awards and made the coveted DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list these years as well! He can boast sets alongside Prodigy and Juno Reactor as well as being a Frantic Resident.

Proteus is also famous for his Proteus Live Show which is breaking boundaries between dance music and industrial metal concert. Proteus plays electric guitar, keyboards and percussions with his full band and they have done several big shows in Finland for 3000 people and for the full Brixton Academy in London!

“Frantic is and has always been one of the most strongest forces in global Hard Dance scene. Frantic is a name that people every where, like here in Finland, knows very well and respects!”

http://nukleuz.com/artistinfo/proteus-biography/

CALLY GAGE

Cally Gage drops a bomb on CD2 and shows why she is the hottest female talent in the scene today, showcasing the other side to Frantic’s events, a combination of high energy hard house, NRG and hard trance.

Cally started off her career in fine style winning the Tidy Summer Camp DJ Competition in July 2004 and since then has achieved more than most DJs achieve in a decade, successfully carving out a well deserved reputation as one who consistently delivers floor-filling, jaw dropping, crowd delighting sets; these are Cally’s trademarks.

Cally’s relentless passion is further rewarded as she becomes this year’s Storm resident alongside her position as a key Frantic Resident and coincides with her move to CODA Agency, (the same agency team responsible for Calvin Harris, Annie Mac, and Fergie). This huge milestone underlines Cally Gage as a true global artiste at the top of her game.

“Frantic is always one of those parties that you look forward to playing at every single time – you get excited waiting to see what they’re going to do next. They always pull out all the stops and put that extra special effort into everything they do – this is what sets them miles ahead of the rest. Frantic rocks, there’s no doubt about that!”
The number 13 is unlucky for some but here at Frantic HQ we feel it’s lucky for us as we have been rocking the Hard Dance world for 13 years!

The Frantic Hard Dance brand and the Nukleuz label were pretty much joined at the hip at birth. The explosion of Hard House in the late 1990’s created one of the most exciting and successful dance music explosions both in terms of the music released and the parties and events it spawned. One of these was the Frantic Residents CD mix albums. These were an antidote to the big budget TV advertised compilations and were a combination of the DJ’s skills on the decks and the catalogue of great tracks Nukleuz were releasing at the time. As time went on the content included non-Nukleuz material but the essence has remained the same.

This was the sound of Frantic & Nukleuz, its core DJs and the broader sound of the London Hard Dance scene. Most of these CDs were made as limited edition runs and now pop up on eBay for up to £50 a time. With this in mind we have decided to release them digitally for the first time and, as you can with digital releases, have included the live original DJ mix and all of the original full length versions in the package. As always this represents a massive saving on original price of these titles but also gives you full confidence that you are getting 100% the original full master quality tracks and mixes from their source. This is the ultimate package of DJ mix and 12″ original classics from complete legends of dance music. Frantic Residents mix albums lovingly recreated in the digital format for all fans of Hard Dance.

The first to be released is Frantic Residents 01: Mixed by Phil Reynolds and is out now on all good download stores. Featuring hard dance legends BK, The Disco Brothers, James Lawson, DJ Energy, S.H.O.K.K., Mark Richardson, L.O.S.P., CRW, Ilogik, Dave Randall, DJ Kim, Olly Perris and Ashley Sinclair.

Breaking from the single DJ mix mould FR07 have given each DJ their own mix to play with for 2 DJ Mixes of the biggest hard dance anthems through the ages. Timed to coincide with Frantic’s 13th Birthday celebrations the compilation will feature all of the hottest anthems from the last 13 years of Frantic as well as some killer new exclusives.
2009 was a massive year for one of our favourite break through hard dance DJs, Frisky. Since signing to Frantic’s DJ Agency UDJS 3 years ago aged only 21 Frisky has had an incredible ride to the top rocking the biggest Hardstyle Festivals in the world, Defqon1 and mixing one part of Frantic’s massive birthday album Frantic 11 alongside Anne Savage, Proteus, A+D+A+M Lab4, Cally Gage and Pickup & Rise!

2010 is already looking to be amazing for Frisky headlining at “God Is A Female DJ” in Denmark for Blutonium Records and is proving why she is one of the most exciting and sought after DJs in Hard Dance! And following the monsterous success of the Master & Servant tour in the UK, Proteus and Frisky will take their unique if also a little disturbing tour to Australia! To celebrate, Frisky has been back into the studio for a hot new photo shoot and you can see the pics here.

Frisky – Official Biography

Standing out from the crowd is easy when you’re Frisky – young, dynamic, gorgeous and playing a style that is dominated by men – these things all make you sit up and take notice.

She has been playing out since she was just 17, when she got her first residency at Breathe in Swansea. She has taken the UK and beyond by storm with her European Hard Trance and Hardstyle sounds, using her own tunes alongside bootlegs to wow the crowds.

Since then she’s come a long way, regularly playing at all the big nights – Q-Dance, Frantic, Slammin’ Vinyl, Bionic, AWsum, Concept (Ireland) and Tranz@ction as well as gigs in Ibiza. Making waves at festivals both at home and abroad has also helped her stamp her mark on the hard dance scene – with bookings for Escape Into The Park and HTID In The Sun. She made such an impression at Q Dance’s 40,000 capacity Defqon 1 festival in Amsterdam that she was immediately booked to play their Q Base festival, and was also booked for the Infinity Rave (Germany) on the back of her stunning Defqon 1 performance!

It’s not just her music that makes her who she is – Frisky’s style, her sexy outfits and the way she interacts with every crowd to bring them higher and higher all produce a DJ who is one of a kind, and a true performer.

And it’s not just gigs that help Frisky reach a wider audience. She was a stand in housemate for Celebrity Big Brother Hijack, based on her outstanding DJ talent. 2008 has also seen Frisky mix part of the Frantic 11 album, sharing a CD with scene greats Anne Savage and A+D+A+M Lab4. The CD is on general release now.

As well as playing music, Frisky has turned her hand to production, with tunes due to be released on Cally & Juice’s Ourstyle label. 2008 sees an EP collaboration with MDA & Spherical being released on Masif, with Steve Hill on remix duties.

The numbers on her portals speak for themselves – with over 5000 fans on Facebook, a 850+ member strong group on DontStayIn.com and 650 friends on Myspace, her fan base is widespread and growing fast.

As such Proteus can boast headline sets around the globe for the likes of Dance Valley, Frantic, Hardhouse Academy, Global Gathering, Creamfields, Impulz, Defqon1, Streetparade Zurich, Transmission Sydney, Utopia, Pharmacy, Enchanted Forest, Time Tunnel, Lab-4’s Laboratory Experiment, Ground Zero, Sonic, Energy, Slammin Vinyl, Goodgreef, Tidy Summer Camp & Weekender and Torture Garden. This lead to Proteus supporting bands like The Prodigy and Juno Reactor!

Proteus and his friends are running their own club night called Säde in Helsinki, Finland which has been voted The Best Club in Finland at the Finnish Club Awards. Proteus is also organizing industrial/fetish events called Graveyard Party and Torture Torstai in Helsinki.

Besides of dance scene Proteus works very closely with Finnish industrial and metal scene. Proteus has done several remixes for Finnish bands and one the major ones has been remix for mighty Apocalyptica. Apocalyptica has sold millions of records worldwide and has done close work with legendary Metallica.

Proteus is also famous for his Proteus Live Show which is breaking boundaries between dance music and industrial metal concert. Proteus plays electric guitar, keyboards and percussions with his full band and they have done several big shows in Finland for 3000 people and for the full Brixton Academy in London!

We caught up with Proteus in one of his few spare moments…

1. What are you working on at the moment?

I’m working on my second artist album at the moment. The album will be out in late spring and it’s based on “Proteus remixes” for different bands and artists from different music scenes… very busy time at studio every day.

2. Where do you see dance music going in 2010?

It would be great to see hard dance getting bigger again after all this electro and minimal trend and I believe it will happen. People get bored when they hear same sounds all the time, it’s time to get some raw energy to the market!:)

3. What makes a good DJ?

Definitely good choice of tunes and good basic technical mixing skills are the receipt to be a good DJ. It’s really important that you are open minded with different music styles when you build your DJ sets. Also it’s very important if you can create your personal style because there are million DJs there and that’s not easy to do.

4. What’s your favourite bit of kit, and how does it sit in your overall set-up?

In my studio I love my Macbook Pro, It’s unbelievable reliable comparing to PC laptops. It’s the center of all in my studio and it’s surrounded by my mixers, synths and guitars. I use Logic and Ableton as my main software.

5. Tune of 2009/Most influential artist of 2009?

My favorite tune has been “Ultraform – I Feel”. Ultraform is very talented Swedish producer and his I Feel tune is all about what I love in hard dance track; heavy, dark, energetic and industrial influenced. Most influential artist has been Lab-4, both Adam and Les. It’s amazing how these guys rock the dance floors always as “number one” even they have been so long in the scene!

6. What can we expect from you in the future?

More tunes, endless touring and more own events in Helsinki! We will never stop!

7. How did you get into DJing?

Basically it all started with collecting records in the late 80- and early 90-. I went to my first rave parties here in Finland in 1992/1993 and saw DJs playing and crowd going crazy. I was thinking “wow!” and then I bought my first mixer and decks. All my friends saved money and bought cars and stuff but I put all my money to music. I had my first proper Proteus gig in 1995 and here we are now.

8. Favourite gig you have ever played?

Very difficult question because there have been so many great gigs. Definitely big festival gigs like Dance Valley, Global Gathering and Defqon1 have been amazing experiences but same time smaller club and underground warehouse gigs have been amazing too. Also when you play at your own events it’s great when everything goes well after long hard work.

9. Event of 2009?

I would say Defqon1 festival in Sydney Australia was my favorite event of 2009. Absolutely amazing!

10. Twitter or Facebook?

Facebook, because it allows you to do so much more than Twitter. I have never been big fan of being in internet all the time. I prefer to use my phone if I need to reach somebody.

11. What is your most prized posession?

My engagement ring… love never dies ha ha!! Also my record collection is priceless: I have about 15 000 vinyls and thousands of cd albums. Different kind of music from goth rock to terrorcore techno!

12. What tunes are on your playlist at the moment?

My top3 are: DJ Guld – Hannya Proteus Remix, Miss Djax & Human Resource – Independence Day, Tommy Pulse – Messiah.

13. Cats or Dogs?

Dogs, I have one year old Portuguese Water Dog. It’s my best friend and baby. It’s unbelievable great when you come home and someone is always on good happy mood! People should learn lot from dogs ha ha!!

14. What is the weirdest experience you’ve ever had behind the decks?

I used to play lot at different kinky clubs in the past and it’s unforgettable badly weird when somebody is jerking in front of you at the crowd when you are djing… not very nice ha ha ha!!!

15. What do you do in your time off?

I try to be as much as possible with my girlfriend and my puppy dog. It’s most important that things are well in your home, in the end that is really what matters in everyone’s life. Not always your career.

16. Have you ever received strange gifts from fans?

Yes many ha ha!! It’s great! I have one shelf at my studio where I put all the gifts from my fans. The weirdest gift probably was “rubber fake sheep sex toy” which I received from Finnish girl fan many years ago. I had to throw it away because I didn’t want that my girlfriend sees it and gets any wrong ideas of me ha ha ha!!!

17. What would be your ultimate holiday?

Just at least two weeks somewhere warm relaxing place with my girlfriend… and without any phones or computers.

18. What would you say is your best trait?

Many people say that I’m very kind and trustable person, I hope it’s true ha ha! Also I’m hard worker and I believe that if you try enough you will reach your goals.

19. What was your first experience of Nukleuz?

My first experience of Nukleuz was old Nukleuz vinyl release “Astra – I Need It”. It includes really good BK & dBm Mix! I used to play it lot in 1999! Great tune! Also I loved Hard Beat EP series.

20. Has it ever all gone completely wrong?

Nukleuz: A Decade of Dance Mayhem – Year 2008

2008: The final death throes of 12″ and CD. We had moved our distribution to Pinnacle, the country’s largest independent distributor but by the end of the year that had too gone bankrupt taking all the the labels that moved to it from Amato with it. This signaled the final death knells for much 12″ and CD distribution of dance music in the UK. Also high street shops that had been supportive of dance in the past were also falling. All this failure in the physical distribution field forced more and more labels to concentrate on their digital distribution and in 2008 digital was beginning to really thrive for many labels , Nukleuz included.

This was the year we continued with Mauro releasing the Meganite mix Cd and the “Gonna Get Ya” mashup single. We continued with both hardcore and trance with our digital output growing by the week. The new digital age allowed us to do all kinds of releases all available at the moment in House, Trance, Minimal etc that we could not have dreamed of doing before that time. We renewed our relationship with Frantic on a release front making the first digital only Frantic mix album. This was very much a year of consolidating our digital only capabilities and trying to bring all our artists into this new world that was still a revolution that was difficult to get to grips with.
