Nukleuz: A Decade of Dance Mayhem – Year 2005

Nukleuz: A Decade of Dance Mayhem – Year 2005

2005: Rebirth of hardcore. Having joined the company full time in 2004 Dave Louca brought with him a strong affiliation with hardcore, Nukleuz’s traditional involvement in the scene and the full to capacity raves country wide, moving into this thriving genre was unavoidable. Following a successful Hardcore EP Nukleuz approached Warners with the idea of a Hardcore Nation album. Noticing a huge opportunity they agreed and the series was born. It went on to sell in excess of 200,000 copies.

Renewing a relationship with long term Nukleuz producer Stu Allan (who worked with Nukleuz head honcho Peter Pritchard on both Clock & Visa projects) and building new relationships with DJ Seduction, Robbie Long and a host of extremely talented, innovative and exciting new producers the first album in the series was a hit selling 65k+ copies, making it the biggest selling hardcore album in a decade! A second equally large album followed shortly along with a host of chart topping Hardcore albums from Universal (Clubland Xtreme Hardcore), Ministry of Sound and Resist (Bonkers).

This year also saw a flurry of hard dance releases including the monumental The Very Best Of Frantic Euphoria as well as the critically acclaimed HardHouse Anthems 6 and Frantic Residents 05 albums. FR05 was Andy Whitby’s first upfront mixed compilation CD and with no copies left in stock and due to phenomenal demand copies can now change hands for £60+ on eBay! 2005 also saw Nukleuz pick up the pace with their Trance releases. Starting with a Trance Sessions album and building with new releases which brought us to the attention of the (now) Head of Nukleuz Green, Pierre Pienaar (aka P.H.A.T.T. / Melodia).

2005 was a key year in the move to digital sales & distribution with the launch and establishment of a large number of download platforms, most notable for Nukleuz being Beatport and Trackitdown, setup by Ed Real after he decided to leave Nukleuz.
